Chilean actress Daniela Vega is the Hollywood hopeful in this year’s #AFantasticWoman, a stylish noir-inspired coming-of-age story, and her country’s entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. A trans woman herself (as is the character she plays), Vega describes the film as “a movie within another movie,” the culmination of both her character’s journey of self-discovery and her own as an artist.
“As an actor, you people-watch, you observe. And the more famous you become, the sad thing is you lose the ability to do that. Instead of people-watching, you become the focus of attention…I went to a crowded restaurant many years ago in Manhattan with David Bowie. And, oh my god, talk about atmosphere change.” #GaryOldman talks to #JackWhite about fame. @mikaeljansson
